Badminton

Badminton is played both competitively and recreationally in community centres throughout Ireland. The biggest prize in Irish Badminton is the Irish Open, a top International Tournament, which has been running for over 100 years. There are also numerous Individual & Doubles competitions throughout the year, run on a National, Provincial or Local (County) basis.

There are Badminton leagues in each county or district, and also a Badminton Premier League, which attracts the top players from all over Ireland International Competitions feature the best of Irish Badminton talent, and Irish players have competed in the Olympics. Below the National & Provincial level, County Level competitions are run throughout the year, for both Singles & Doubles.

Badminton Ireland also enters teams into International Competitions and Individuals into the Olympics, World Games and European Championships.

There are Colleges and Schools Badminton Competitions in Ireland, both Club & Doubles / Individual, at a National Level. Student Sport Ireland and Badminton Ireland organise the SSI / BI League, and Badminton Ireland also organise Schools Leagues. There are Colleges and Schools Competitions, both Club & Doubles / Individual, at a National Level.

Community Games is an independent organization orgainizing sports and games for children and teenagers over the summer months in Ireland whenn they are off school. There are local (parish) events followed by County Championships, Provincial Championships and National Championships. Events take place in numerous sports, games and activities like a mini-Olympic Games.

Below the National & Provincial level, County Level Badminton competitions are run throughout the year, for both Singles & Doubles. There are also Club Competitions in each Club.
